What is SkiRing?
An innovative training tool that closes the gap between learning and practicing the fundamental skills of skiing.
There is no one way to learn how to ski, but there are a few fundamental skills that when learned early on can make all the difference.
SkiRing was designed to help new skiers more effectively learn the five skiing fundamentals, as recommended by the PSIA-AASI (The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors).
Control the relationship of the center of mass to the base of support to direct pressure along the length of the ski. (fore/aft pressure)
Control pressure from ski to ski and direct pressure to the outside ski. (Pressure)
Control edge angles through a combination of inclination and angulation. (Edging)
Control the skis rotation (turning, pivoting, steering) with leg rotation, separate from the upper body. (Rotary)
Regulate the magnitude of pressure created through ski/snow interaction. (Pressure)
By keeping hands out front, new skiers can more effectively practice proper athletic stance, downhill focus, and hands moving into the future. Developing a quiet upper body allows new skiers to focus on foot and ankle movements, basic skills in skiing.
