Inspired To Learn From
A New Point Of View

Since launching SkiRing® in 2016, we have been working diligently to empower people of all ages and backgrounds to learn to ski. Whether by individual learning or by working closely with ski instructors and ski schools, SkiRing® is helping close the gap between instruction and practice.

About SkiRing®

Having learned to ski as an adult and later becoming a ski instructor, Monica, the inventor and founder of SkiRing®, was inspired to contemplate the learning process from a unique point of view. Receiving mentorship and training from some of the best PSIA-AASI instructors in the industry and spending season after season with beginners, she identified key challenges in the learning process.

After years of teaching beginners (of all ages) and watching their learning curves, I thought there must be a better way.

Some students were able to move quickly to intermediate-level slopes while others struggled. I found that if I could build their confidence and keep their fear factor low, they progressed more quickly.

Monica Schwanitz, Inventor and Founder of SkiRing®

Monica identified a gap between learning the basics and effectively putting that instruction into practice. That’s when the idea for SkiRing® began.

By keeping new skiers’ hands out front, rather than at their sides or in back, or ‘flailing’ everywhere, SkiRing® supports proper athletic stance, motivates downhill focus, decreases anxiety, and inspires imaginative play while learning. A quiet upper body allows the new skier to focus on foot and ankle movements, basic skills in skiing.

From

Concept to Creation

SkiRing® took the form of a circle because it allowed for effortless and infinite maneuvering. Being thin and flat allowed for hands big and small to grasp it with ease, and also provided safety in the event it was dropped as it could easily be skied over.

The gaps in the rungs gave students an unobstructed view of what’s ahead and offered the opportunity for imaginative play. SkiRing® has been through rigid testing, including temperature testing, and proven to hold up in even the most extreme conditions (down to -22 degrees Fahrenheit!).
